What kind of photographer are you?
I think the first thing that people discover about my personality is that I’m laid back. I believe this clearly transfers to my business. I love to remind families and couples that they are unique, and that is beautiful. I am passionate about capturing interactions between families and couples in an artistic and more candid way. I don’t expect perfection, and I aim to make couples and families feel comfortable so that their session is enjoyable.
Where will my session be held?
All of my sessions are held at outdoor location in Canal Fulton, North Canton and Hartville. Based on your preference of urban or green and your location, we’ll find the perfect place to make for a memorable evening together. This location is chosen a week before your scheduled session. Newborn sessions are held inside, you can find more information below!
How long will my session be?
My sessions are marked as 60 minutes, but we don’t always use that time. Most of my sessions last between 45-60 minutes. Newborn sessions are unique, and can last between 2-4 hours, more information below!
Have you increased your prices?
Yes and no. Recently, I have been spending a lot of time truly digging into the business end of things. Instead of having minimum print package purchases, or up-selling you to high-resolution galleries, I have decided to offer different price points with different final gallery options. My overall prices remain the same, but I offer more expensive packages that have a better value for you, which I’m so excited about!
Do you provide high-resolution digital files?
Yes! I believe that the changes in the print world are affecting how photographers run business, and therefore I choose not to sell print packages. Although you can order prints and products within your gallery from my preferred printer; all of my galleries come with a print release so you can download and order from anywhere you’d like!
What will my session be like?
When you show up, you should be prepared to make memories with your family or significant other. You don’t need to look perfect, and your children don’t need to behave perfectly. They might not want to smile, and your hair might blow in your face, but trust me when I say that it doesn’t matter. I don’t expect perfection during my sessions, and I hope that takes the edge off for everyone. I like to use light in beautiful ways, and the capture your family interacting and enjoying time together. You might get “that” picture, with everyone looking at the camera and smiling, but that is not my goal for a session. I aim to capture laughter, and unique, intimate moments that your family is sharing.
Do I have to know how to pose for these sessions?
First, 100% of my clients have never been models, and that actually makes my job easier for many reasons. I will direct you and your loved ones throughout the session. I also love capturing candid and natural moments. I always encourage you to talk and laugh throughout our session! I also always recommend moving around, and doing what feels comfortable.
Do you ever reschedule or cancel sessions?
I have never cancelled a session, and I can only imagine this would happen under extreme conditions or an emergency. I do sometimes reschedule sessions, because I don’t shoot in the rain. Unfortunately, my gear is not waterproof, but I have also found that cloudy and sunny days make for the dreamy pictures you see in my gallery. I am always willing to re-book on weeknights because of the inconvenience. Trust me, every client who has had to reschedule, has said it was worth it!
Can we bring multiple outfits?
I always welcome couple, especially maternity, wardrobe changes. I don’t do outfit changes with families, just because of timing. We get enough variety with the whole family to make for a full gallery!
When and where will my newborn session be held?
I schedule newborn sessions in the late morning, because that gives us the best lighting opportunities. Newborn sessions are held indoors, but if the weather is nice we may sneak outside for some shots as well. I hold newborn session in my home. These sessions are all about lovey dovey closeness, so it’s rare you’ll see parts of my home in your pictures. The contracts for newborn session are set on your due date, but we book these once your are home with baby. I try to schedule all newborn sessions between 5-10 days so that we have a cozy, sleepy baby.
How long will my newborn session last?
Newborn sessions typically last between 2-4 hours. I ask for this amount of time, because time with newborns is always questionable. I create time for feeding, wrapping and getting baby to sleep. It takes time, and this lets us have a laid-back and enjoyable time together as we celebrate new life!
Do I need to provide the blankets and wraps for my newborn session?
For these sessions, I love having special blankets or outfits in the pictures if you have them. Otherwise, I provide all of the blankets, wraps and cute things to make your pictures special. Everything gets washed between sessions for the baby’s safety. You will receive more details about your newborn session the week before your session!
What should I wear?
I know that choosing the perfect outfits feels like a lot of pressure. Although coordinating outfits can be beautiful, they are not necessary. I always recommend that you, as the mom or dad, choose an outfit that makes you feel good and go from there. I also recommend not having perfectly matching outfits, but instead aim to coordinate. If you find it necessary, go neutral and pick one accent color that is found is some of the clothing. My sessions are more about capturing the ooey gooey moments, and laughter than about what you are wearing.
What is the best way to communicate with you?
The best way to reach me is by email. I hold normal business hours throughout the week, and some on the weekends as well. I will always respond to you as quickly as I can! You can also fill out any of the forms on my website, and I will respond by email.
When and how do I pay for my session?
In order to book your session, you pay a non-refundable retainer fee, which is based on your total session fee. The remaining cost is due before or at the time of the session. We accept check and card payments, and your session can be fully paid through the invoice that is sent to you at the time of your booking.
